About Us

As an organisation, we have sometimes gained awards for work we have done. In addition, many of our members, as individuals, have earned recognition for community work. Although these awards may not be related to their membership of the Friends of Lane Cove National Park Inc, we are proud to have them as our members and to acknowledge their accomplishments.

Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority Regional Environment Awards 2009
The role of the Sydney Metropolitan CMA is to work in partnership with the community & environmental managers in the region to provide advice, expertise & a regional direction for natural resource management activities.

The inaugural awards were established to highlight the outstanding work & success of community members within the Sydney Metropolitan CMA region.

The Friends submitted applications in 2 Award categories
1.The Friends for the Urban Environmental Project Award ($5000 sponsored by Landcare) for the longstanding (since 2000) Ridge to River Project
2.The Carters Creek Bushcare Group (under the leadership of Lyn Hulme) for the Community Group Environment Award ($1000). This group has been working in the area since 1992.

Winners of the Awards were announced at the 2009 Community Forum organized by the Sydney Metro CMA & held on 23.5.09. Whilst neither of the applications were the winners in their category, the Friends received a “Highly Commended” award for the Ridge to River project.
